For my public relations capstone course, MC 4005, I served as research director for Third Eye Communications. Our client, Diversity House, is the first residential program for LGBT homeless youth in the Gulf Region. As research director, I compiled secondary research on Diversity House and LGBT youth homelessness. I then created primary research instruments in order to compile additional information to guide our campaign.
BrochureIn order to stress the importance of Diversity House in the Baton Rouge community, I researched overall LGBT youth homelessness statistics to include in Diversity House’s brochure. This would allow viewers to begin to understand the importance of Diversity House’s mission.
I researched and chose each statistics to be included in the brochure. Third Eye Communications’ design director, Tara Hebert, designed the brochure. InsideOutside |
Comment CardsI created a comment card for the event attendees to complete while at the event. These comment cards evaluated their levels of awareness prior and after the event, the likelihood of them donating to Diversity House in the future, and what they thought of when they thought of Diversity House (in order to gauge perceptions).
I created the research instrument and Tara Hebert designed the comment cards. Front |
BackT-shirtThird Eye Communications created staff and volunteer t-shirts to be worn at all Diversity House events. They are also available for sale to encourage our audience into becoming messengers for Diversity House.
As an agency we determined that we needed a powerful statement for use on the t-shirts. I continued to research statistics, first-hand accounts, news articles and found that this one statement was the most impactful. It then became the guiding statistic for the entire campaign. Contact Database |
As Diversity House is a new organization, there was not a contact list for supporters or donors. This made it difficult when trying to publicize the awareness event. I added blanks for emails to the donation cards and comment cards as well as an email sign-up page for the fact booth. I then was able to create a contact database for Diversity House’s future use.
